How We Met Festival Of The Lion King Cast!

Photographing Disney World is one of my favorite things to do on a trip.  I love going back to the parks at night after the family is in bed.  I take my camera on all the rides – and I keep shooting throughout the spins, dips, and turn.  The photographs I come home with are the best souvenirs for me.

This was no different on our trip to Walt Disney World in 2009.  My camera was with me all week.

In the middle of the week, we had our Animal Kingdom day.  Our family loves the Festival of the Lion King show.  The songs, the action…we love it all.  The show challenges me as a photographer.  I struggle every time to come home with keepers.

But on this trip, I came home with a great one!

Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good!  Great photographs often need a little luck.  I put myself in a position to get a good photo with the right lens, technique, and settings.  I was sitting in the right spot and the lights hit just right.

The result is one of my most popular photos!

I saw it happening through the lens and knew I had something pretty good!

The photo was received many likes and comments on Flickr quickly.  A few months after the trip, I received a message on Flickr about the photo – from the subject!

She saw the photo of herself and loved it.  She asked for a copy and offered to pay for a print.  I couldn’t charge her, so she offered another idea.

On our trip to WDW in 2010, she gave us an incredible memory!

First, we arrived at the show and were greeted by a host who took us to our VIP seats.  Brooke was then asked to join the show!

After the show, we were escorted backstage for an incredible, private meet and greet!

We are still so grateful to for this unique experience.  We have a special memory all from a “lucky” photograph!
